As a Lead Elastomer Engineer, you will be involved in challenging well completion and intervention applications supporting customers with elastomeric sealing solutions for their well conditions. The role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in the entire elastomer product lifecycle starting from research and development of compounds for new applications, customer support for use of Baker Hughes products under customer operating environments, manufacturing and vendor support as well as development of new sources of supply.

Baker Hughes CWI is a world leader in non-metallic products for subsurface applications. As an elastomer subject matter expert you will be expected to provide technical insight, oversight and justification during the lifecycle of the elastomer product manufacture and use.

As a Lead Elastomer Engineer you will be responsible for

  • Development of Baker Hughes Material Specifications
  • Development and maintenance of material selection guidelines
  • Development of material recommendations for internal and external customers
  • Interfacing with customers to develop validation test plans and managing projects
  • Disposition of internal and vendor non-conformance reports
  • Technical support of field queries
  • Participation in root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Communicates across the organization to support any elastomer related issue.
  • Presents to senior leadership in specific technical space and on cross functional teams

To be successful in this role you will:

  • To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Chemical engineering, Polymer Chemistry or Material Science.
  • In addition, you will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in elastomer formulations and testing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are a must for this role.
  • Experience in oilfield and subsurface applications of elastomers would be a strong benefit
  • Lab experience in new formulations and testing of elastomers would be a strong benefit

  • Statistical analysis and design of experiments would also be beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills. Proven analytical and organizational ability.
